The electric cargo bike for urban green space maintenance

An electrically powered cargo bike specially designed for maintaining green spaces in cities. That's what this concept study, which is currently being tested, is about. The vehicle is therefore not yet available for purchase. The aim is to create a practical, sustainable and cost-effective mobility solution for municipalities and companies in gardening and landscaping.

Why STIHL developed this concept

The maintenance of green spaces in cities is becoming increasingly challenging: heavy traffic, narrow paths, strict emission regulations. We asked ourselves: How can the way to the job site be made easier for gardening and landscaping companies? The answer is an innovative mobility concept that makes everyday green maintenance easier, all while being sustainable, flexible and practical.

Rethinking green care

The cargo bike is intended to help better cope with the daily challenges of maintaining green spaces in cities. It runs on cycle paths, avoids traffic jams and can also be used by employees without a driver's license. The trailer offers space for tools, batteries, water containers or green waste. This makes commuting to work easier, faster and more environmentally friendly. At the same time, many of the running costs that would be incurred with classic vehicles are eliminated.

Customizable mobility

The concept is based on adaptability: the trailer has a modular design and can be adapted as required, for example to transport STIHL equipment, chargers, water tanks or waste. Bulky machines such as Pole Pruner can be stored on the roof. And thanks to integrated charging units, STIHL batteries are ready for use right on site.

Sustainable mobility for modern cities

For cities and companies, the cargo bike offers many practical advantages: It is low-emission and quiet, which is particularly important in residential areas. It can be driven without a driver's license and saves costs on insurance, MOT and maintenance. The modular design makes it flexible in use, for example for short distances, narrow passages or special transport requirements. This makes it a real alternative to small electric trucks, especially for daily use in urban areas.
