STIHL − a family-owned company with a long heritage

We have an incredible history of success and growth. It is very impressive to see what has been built up by our family together with the employees and how, thanks to their achievements, it has been possible for us to get involved in the company as the third – and certainly not the last – generation.

Strong roots. For generations.

At STIHL, family values are a top priority by tradition. Since the company was founded, members of the Stihl family have been steering the company’s fortunes and have grown the one-man business into a global company and the best-selling chainsaw brand in the world. In 2002, the Stihl family withdrew from the operational management of the company and handed over management to a board composed of non-family members. The family continues to make strategic decisions as part of the STIHL Advisory Board and Supervisory Board. Dr. Nikolas Stihl, Chairman of the Advisory Board and Supervisory Board, and Selina Stihl and Karen Tebar, both members of the Supervisory Board and Vice Chairpersons of the Advisory Board, are now the third generation of the STIHL family to form part of the company’s management.
