Making gardening easier – that is the specialism of STIHL in Austria at its production site in Langkampfen, Tyrol. VIKING GmbH was founded here in 1981, specializing in garden tools and becoming a 100% STIHL-owned subsidiary in 1992. The brand was integrated into the STIHL Group in 2018, and VIKING GmbH has since been renamed STIHL Tyrol. STIHL Tyrol in Langkampfen, Austria, is not only the competence center for ground-guided garden power tools such as lawn mowers, robotic mowers, ride-on mowers and shredders, but also produces a wide range of hand-held STIHL battery products. The STIHL range includes around 180 models of ground-guided garden power tools.
This technology includes the iMOW robotic mowing system, which is put through its paces on the extensive test sites at Langkampfen – including a 3,000-square-meter expanse of lawn on the roof of the STIHL Tyrol company building. Another highlight of this state-of-the-art production site is the automated, space-optimized AutoStore warehouse. The facility includes more than 67,000 containers in a storage room with no corridors, which are quickly and reliably shelved and dispensed by 26 robots.
Founded in 1926, the family-owned company STIHL is one of the leading suppliers of power tools for forestry, landscaping, construction and gardening. STIHL Gesellschaft m. b. H., based in Vösendorf, was founded in 1966 and is responsible for the distribution of the STIHL brand in Austria. The products are sold exclusively through specialist dealers who provide service. The STIHL sales center supplies these specialist dealers and supports them with numerous services.
