At STIHL, we’re here for a reason —and for each other. For 100 years, our story has been one of people who believe that their work can make a difference. What began as a small family business has grown into a global community —connected by shared values and a sense of purpose that goes beyond products.
We’re here to innovate with integrity, to challenge what’s possible and to create something that lasts. At STIHL, we combine long heritage with a modern corporate culture which is characterized by diversity, equal opportunities and continuous development. When we understand why we do what we do, work becomes more than a job —it becomes a reason to grow, to connect and to lead change together.
That’s the spirit that defines our culture. That’s what it means to be HERE FOR A REASON.
Every story at STIHL is a part of it – unique, personal, real.
Sustainability at STIHL is more than a commitment — it’s part of our identity. With roots in forestry, we understand the importance of protecting what sustains us. That’s why we invest in technologies and initiatives that preserve resources, protect ecosystems and promote environmental awareness worldwide. From developing emission-free cordless saws to supporting reforestation and conservation projects, STIHL takes responsibility for the future. Through partnerships such as the Bergwaldprojekt e.V., where volunteers help restore forests in Germany, or the “One Million Trees for Borneo” initiative, which protects the Indonesian rainforest, we bring sustainability to life. The company supports these initiatives by means of financial resources, equipment donations and knowledge transfer. One of the special features of these projects is that they actively involve the local population in ensuring that degraded forest areas can in future be socially, ecologically and sustainably put to use, thereby protecting the existing primary forest. Because being HERE FOR A REASON means thinking beyond today — and protecting what makes tomorrow possible.
STIHL was founded by Andreas Stihl and is now managed by the third generation of his family. This continuity shows how much family values are deeply embedded in our DNA. As a family-owned business, we know that every single employee is an integral part of our success. We appreciate the importance of teamwork, respect and cohesion – in fact, they are the cornerstones of our corporate culture.
We value diversity and inclusion within our STIHL family. We strongly believe that including a range of perspectives and backgrounds drives our innovation and creativity. Regardless of your background, gender, age or life situation, we welcome you and encourage you to give your best.
Whether you’re developing technical innovations, supporting the production of our high -quality products or contributing your expertise in another area – at STIHL, you’ll have the opportunity to turn your passion into progress. We believe that a diversity of tasks and perspectives inspires our teams and drives innovation. Here, we grow with intention —learning from one another, shaping the future together and finding meaning in the work we do every day.
A career at STIHL is by no means limited to one specific point. We believe that continuous development is the key to success. That’s why we offer numerous training and development opportunities to ensure that our employees can grow both personally and professionally. Whether they are just starting their career or already have some experience when they join us, everyone at STIHL has the opportunity to learn new skills and advance in their professional career.
As a department head for S&OP Supply Planning, Fabio Fender has had many proud moments, but one stands out above the rest: when an employee from his team became a leader herself. Seeing people grow, take on responsibility, and go their own way is what makes him proud. This also fuels his own drive to grow every day.
Fabio’s team has two main jobs: to ensure smooth planning and supply, and to act as a rapid-response team when things go wrong. Their work is often unnoticed, which is a sign that they are doing it right. But when a crisis hits, they’re ready to jump into action, just like the fire department. What Fabio likes most is when colleagues give him feedback, saying: “Hey, that really helped us move forward.”
For Fabio, there’s a simple reason why he works at STIHL: “Because here I can work on great, super interesting topics with great people — without a lot of blabla, but with a lot of heart and mind.” What surprised him most was how personal and familiar the company is. He values this rare blend of an entrepreneurial spirit and a grounded, human approach. "I knew STIHL was a powerful brand, but I didn't realize how truly personal and family-like the culture would feel", he says.

Jing (Cornelia) Jiang, the leader of STIHL’s HR department, is driven by the tasks waiting to be completed on her work calendar. She finds her purpose in key initiatives like implementing new employee projects and collaborating with her team to solve complex challenges. For her, every day is an opportunity to learn and improve.
Jing believes that she and her team must act as role models, living the company’s policies rather than merely creating them. She sees herself and her team subtly influencing others’ behavior through respectful communication and mutual support, working together to build an open, harmonious, and respectful company culture.
Although she joined STIHL only eight months ago, Jing has already earned her colleagues’ trust. “Some colleagues proactively approach me for collaboration or advice, and we’ve begun sharing memorable moments from both work and life”, she explains. She describes her relationships with colleagues on three levels: as a mentor when they seek advice, as siblings during team activities, and as good friends who can speak freely and laugh together.
Jing is also deeply inspired by STIHL’s culture . She considers it a privilege to have attended the annual HR workshop, where she witnessed the powerful teamwork among colleagues from around the world.
