STIHL India opens new sales headquarters

The India-based STIHL sales subsidiary ANDREAS STIHL Pvt. Ltd has celebrated the opening of its new sales headquarters in Pune. As one of the fastest-growing sales subsidiaries in the STIHL Group, the expansion is a necessary step for STIHL India. Norbert Pick, STIHL Executive Board Member for Marketing and Sales, took part in the celebratory ceremony in Chakan Industrial Park: “We are extremely proud to have acquired the land in Pune to build an office, warehouse and operations building tailored to our needs. This investment represents a further commitment by STIHL to the important Indian market.” Parind Prabhudesai, Managing Director of STIHL India, added: “We are delighted to be part of this journey as it underlines our commitment to growth in the Indian market. Along with our colleagues and partners, we are ready to push ahead with the transformation of agricultural technology.”

7,100 square meters of usable space plus additional capacities

The plot measures around 23,200 square meters. Of this area, 7,100 square meters has been transformed into a warehouse, offices, a showroom, and a service and training area. The plot offers enough space to expand the new buildings by an additional 3,500 square meters if STIHL India continues on its growth path. With an investment volume of around ten million euros, the construction project was realized within eighteen months: The groundbreaking ceremony took place in April 2019, and the new sales headquarters went into operation in October 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic had prevented the facility from being officially dedicated until now.

STIHL India – a success story over the past 16 years

The India-based STIHL sales subsidiary was first established in 2006, consisting of one office in Bangalore with four employees at the time. When it first entered the market, power tools for forestry and agricultural use were not widespread in India. As such, the sales company started out selling just a few chainsaws and clearing saws. The rise of automation in India has driven demand for hand-operated outdoor power tools to increase over time, prompting STIHL India to expand its dealer network nationwide. STIHL India currently has 61 employees.
