Waiblingen, 12/15/2017 | Company press release
The STIHL Group is investing more than 100 million euros in new buildings to extend and modernize the facilities at the head office in Waiblingen. “The company’s strong growth makes substantial expansion of our German head office necessary. We are expecting significant increases in unit sales and revenue in the future. We currently have more than 150 vacancies, and so we also urgently need additional office space,” explained STIHL Executive Board Chairman Dr. Bertram Kandziora. “With our investments we are once again making a clear commitment to Germany as a business location.”
Major changes are being planned, particularly at Waiblingen Plant 1, Badstrasse. A STIHL Brand World with museum is being created, with the current high-rise administration block set to be fully renovated and modernized. The project will be implemented by Stuttgart-based BFK Architects. The building next to the high-rise block will be demolished and rebuilt as an office building with a staff restaurant. In addition, further construction projects intended to create additional space at all Waiblingen locations are currently being considered. There are already concrete plans in place for Plant 2 in Waiblingen-Neustadt: Due to current strong growth and a steadily growing number of employees, the 2016-built production logistics entrance building will receive two additional floors – creating around 250 new office workstations.
The extensive construction and renovation projects necessitate the temporary relocation of around 350 members of staff from Plant 1. The removal crates will be packed and ready to go in summer 2018. One of the STIHL alternative accommodation options is a rented office building in Fellbach which offers 9,400 square meters of floor space across a total of five floors. The property is currently being extensively refurbished and the location will have its own canteen.
